Guardiola says Man City ‘feel good’ at Etihad ahead of Forest clash

Pep Guardiola says Manchester City ‘feel good’ in games at the Etihad, ahead of this weekend’s home clash with Nottingham Forest.

City host Forest in the Premier League this weekend looking to maintain the club’s perfect start to the new campaign.

The Citizens are seeking a 12th consecutive home win in the Premier League, but Guardiola is aware of the threat that Forest will pose, having won at Chelsea and troubled Manchester United and Arsenal in away games earlier this season.

“They were able to do an incredible game [against Chelsea] at Stamford Bridge, they fought a lot against Arsenal away and at Manchester United it was 2-2 until the last minutes,” Guardiola said at his pre-match press conference.

“Last season we couldn’t win there – we had a lot of chances but couldn’t score.

“We cannot deny that last year and this year, [playing] at home we feel good, but tomorrow at home we have to do it again.”

Guardiola confirmed that Bernardo Silva has joined a growing list of injury absences at City, after the midfielder was substituted during the midweek win over Red Star Belgrade.

“It’s a little injury, not much,” he said. “I don’t know [how long he’ll be out] – a week, two weeks.”

Guardiola suggested the congested nature of the fixture calendar was behind his side’s current injury situation.

“A lot of games. Less games, less injuries. We’ve had a lot of games in a row with not much rest, it’s just that.”
