Moyes admits Anfield plays a ‘big role’ ahead of Liverpool clash

David Moyes admits the Anfield crowd play a ‘big role’ in clashes against Liverpool as West Ham travel to face the Reds this weekend.

West Ham take on Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, as the Irons look to bounce back from their first defeat of the Premier League season against Manchester City last weekend.

Liverpool are unbeaten in 16 league matches after a win at Wolves last time out, the longest undefeated run in the Premier League at present.

Moyes is anticipating a ‘hard game’ at Anfield, but is confident that West Ham can give Jurgen Klopp’s side a ‘good game’.

“It’s a big, hard game. The crowd and the stadium play a big role at Anfield,” Moyes said at his pre-match press conference.

“In recent years we’ve given them tough games and we’ll try to give them a good game on Sunday. We know we’re playing a good side and we want to show what we can do.”

Moyes provided an update on the fitness of his squad after West Ham’s Europa League victory against Backa Topola on Thrusday night and confirmed Jarrod Bowen and Aaron Cresswell are doubts.

“Jarrod Bowen has had a virus so we’ll need to see how he is. But the others, we seem okay.

“Aaron Cresswell felt his hamstring last night so we’ll see how he is today, but otherwise we’re okay.”
