Martin Odegaard says it was an ‘easy decision’ to sign a new contract at Arsenal after extending his deal with the club.
Odegaard has been a key figure in Arsenal’s improvement under Mikel Arteta and was named as club captain ahead of last season.
The Norway international scored a career-best 15 goals in the Premier League as the Gunners challenged for the title in 2022/23 and has evolved into one of the most influential players in the division.
The 24-year-old was also named as Arsenal’s Player of the Season last term and has expressed his delight at extending his contract with the club, with the midfielder understood to have become the north London side’s highest-paid player.
“Signing a new contract was a really easy decision for me for lots of reasons,” he told the club’s official website.
“Mainly what we are doing right now as a club is special, and I want to be a part of that. I’m really excited for what’s to come here. I’ve found a place where I can be really settled and call my home.
“My story is a bit different maybe, as I moved around different clubs since I was 16. At Arsenal, since the first day, I’ve felt great and this is definitely my home now.
“I just want to say thanks to everyone working at the club and of course, our fantastic supporters. I will continue to give everything to bring success to this club in the years to come.”
