Mauricio Pochettino has called on Chelsea to become ‘more natural’ around goal as the club look to solve their goalscoring issues.
Chelsea have won just one of their opening six games of the new Premier League season, a start which has seen the west Londoners score just five times. The Blues fell to a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday and have now failed to score in three consecutive league games.
Chelsea host Brighton in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening and ahead of the game Pochettino has discussed his side’s problems in the final third.
The Argentine has said he remains positive Chelsea can turn around results and called on his forward line to become ‘more natural’ when chances arrive.
“We need to be more natural [to score goals]. To create chances is not only about your position [or structure of the team]. The most important thing is to be natural,” he told his pre-game press conference.
“The team has shown they have real confidence and belief in the way we play, but we need to be more natural [when in potential goalscoring situations].
“We are going to keep working really hard and be positive.”
