Saudi sides to rival European interest in Osimhen

Saudi Pro League sides will rival interest from Europe in Victor Osimhen, with the forward’s future uncertain as he threatens legal action against Napoli.

Osimhen has been angered following a social media post from Napoli mocking the club’s centre-forward, with the player’s agent, Roberto Calenda, calling the TikTok video ‘not acceptable’ and confirming legal action against the club is being considered.

The video, which has since been deleted, featured a clip of the Nigerian’s missed penalty against Bologna last weekend, with a high-speed voiceover mocking the forward.

It is an astonishing situation given Osimhen’s status in Napoli, where the forward scored 26 league goals last season to inspire the club to a first Serie A title success in 33 years.

The Nigerian international has since deleted almost all of the images of him wearing a Napoli shirt from his Instagram, with clubs on red-alert at the prospect of signing the striker.

Real Madrid and Chelsea are said to be interested in signing the 24-year-old, with the former targeting a long-term replacement for Karim Benzema.

However, Mail Sport are reporting that Saudi sides are also monitoring Osimhen’s situation as the nation continues to make efforts to sign established stars from Europe.

Benzema, Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo are among the high-profile names currently in the Saudi Pro League and the arrival of Osimhen – one of Europe’s most coveted centre-forwards and a player approaching his peak years – would be a statement signing for the big-spending division.
