Victor Osimhen has expressed his ‘unwavering’ love for Napoli after the forward’s fallout with the club.
Osimhen has been linked with leaving Napoli after a bizarre social media post from the club, which appeared to mock the striker for his missed penalty against Bologna earlier this month.
Osimhen’s agent said the Nigerian was considering legal action against the Italian champions, while the 24-year-old appeared to delete images of him wearing a Napoli shirt from his Instagram account.
However, Osimhen has taken to social media to reaffirm his continued commitment to Napoli, for who he scored 26 league goals last season to lead the side to a first Serie A title since 1990.
“Coming to the city of Naples in 2020 was a wonderful decision for me,” Osimhen said on Instagram, after scoring in the 4-0 win over Lecce at the weekend.
“The people of Naples have shown me so much love and kindness, and I will not allow anyone to come between us.
“The passion of the people of Naples fuels my fire to always play with my heart and soul, and the love for the badge is unwavering as I wear it with pride.
“I have a lot of friends who are Neapolitans and have become part of my family and everyday life. I appreciate Nigerians and everyone for lending their voices to support and reach out to me.
“Let’s continue to spread unity, respect and understanding. Forza Napoli Sempre.”
