Pochettino praises ‘very good’ Chelsea win at Fulham

Mauricio Pochettino was pleased with the performance from Chelsea after the club’s 2-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Chelsea secured just their second win of the Premier League campaign after a comfortable west London derby win over Fulham, with Mykhailo Mudryk’s first goal for the Blues and Armando Broja’s effort securing a vital three points.

Mudryk opened the scoring after collecting Levi Colwill’s pass and firing past Bernd Leno, before Broja doubled the lead just 20 seconds after the restart following an error from Fulham captain Tim Ream.

Pochettino believes his team were deserving of the three points and hopes Chelsea can build confidence in the coming weeks.

“It’s important for us to build our confidence and trust in ourselves. The performance was very good, I’m so happy for the players and in the end we got what we deserved,” the Chelsea boss told Sky Sports.

Pochettino was delighted to see Mudryk open his account for the club after a challenging period since signing for Chelsea in January, though the winger was forced off at half-time with a muscular injury.

“It’s very important for offence players to score a goal. He was doing well. He was unlucky at half-time, he felt something in his quad but hopefully it’s not a big issue and he will be ready for the weekend. I’m so happy for both [the goalscorers].

“In any team when you have issues [injuries] like we have the results can be affected and we tried to not use that as an excuse. It is an amazing squad and very talented.”
