Mikel Arteta has provided an injury update on his Arsenal squad ahead of the club’s Champions League clash at Lens.
Arsenal travel to France to face the Ligue 1 side on Tuesday evening, as the Gunners look to build on an impressive opening win against PSV Eindhoven.
Arteta has confirmed that Bukayo Saka is in contention to feature after picking up a knock in the weekend win at Bournemouth, while Thomas Partey is also closing in on a first-team return after resuming training with Arsenal this week.
“He’s fine, he’s much better,” Arteta said on Saka at his pre-match press conference.
“Obviously he took a big knock but he’s recovered well and he trained today. It’s great if he’s available and we will make that call tomorrow.”
On Partey, Arteta added: “He’s been progressing really well in the last two weeks, and he managed to train the last two or three days with the team. That’s great news for us obviously.
“He’s progressing and has been very good in the past week. He is a big player and we know what he brings to the team.”
