Frank Lampard is interested in becoming Rangers next head coach after the club’s decision to sack Michael Beale.
Beale was dismissed after Rangers lost 3-1 at home to Aberdeen on Saturday, the third defeat in seven Scottish Premiership games this season. Rangers are already seven points behind Celtic in the title race and are assessing candidates for the vacant role.
Sky Sports are reporting that several coaches have ‘shown interest’ in the role, including former Chelsea and Everton boss Lampard.
The 45-year-old has been without a club since leaving a caretaker position at Chelsea at the end of last season.
Lampard could follow in the footsteps of former England teammate Steven Gerrard, who led Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title in unbeaten fashion in 2020/21.
Birmingham boss John Eustace, former Rangers defender Kevin Muscat – who is currently in charge of Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan – and AZ Alkmaar’s Pascal Jansen have also been linked with the position.
However, ex-Chelsea and Brighton boss Graham Potter is not thought to be in the frame. Potter declined an approach from French side Lyon earlier this season as he plots a potential return to the dugout.
