Barcelona set for summer sales as financial issues continue

Barcelona are prepared to listen to offers for their entire first-team squad this summer as the Catalans look to combat the club’s financial issues.

Barcelona have struggled with financial problems in recent campaigns and require further cuts in order to meet Spanish football’s operating rules.

The La Liga champions are understood to still be operating above the €270m (£234m) spending limit imposed by Spanish football’s top division and are reportedly willing to listen to proposals for stars this summer.

Sport are reporting that Barcelona will look to make at least one ‘great sale’ to provide room to ease their concerns. Eric García – who has impressed on loan at surprise package Girona – and Ansu Fati are among those could depart on permanent deals, with the latter currently on loan at Brighton in the Premier League.

There also remains Premier League interest in midfielder Frenkie de Jong, with Chelsea and Manchester United having each courted the Dutchman in recent transfer windows.

Barcelona spent just €4m on transfer fees during the summer to re-sign Oriol Romeu, with Ilkay Gundogan and Inigo Martinez arriving as free agents and Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix on loan.

In terms of outgoings, Ousmane Dembele, Antoine Griezmann and Franck Kessie were among the high-profile permanent departures as €105m was recouped from sales.
