Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has told his players to “do your job” and pinpointed why his side have underperformed this season.
The Red Devils have lost back-to-back games in the Premier League and Champions League heading into this weekend’s tie against Brentford at Old Trafford.
The Dutch coach has come under pressure for his team’s poor form this term as they sit 10th in the table. He feels that Man United have done a lot right in their games so far, but reckons his squad have not been consistent enough and urged them to step up to the plate.
“Consistency – that is the problem we are struggling with,” Ten Hag said in his pre-match press conference.
“In big parts of the game, I would say, we do a lot of things right. But then we have moments when we are struggling – and in such moments, we can’t survive.
“In those moments you have to do the right things – so be consistent and do your job, be consistent in your communication because when you do that, you keep the right organisation.
“When decisive moments are going against us, we lose a little bit of the team – but over big parts, say 95 percent of the game, we are the team. We have to keep doing that all the way through, we have to step up.”
