Jurgen Klopp is wary of his Liverpool side receiving another shellacking from Brighton when the two sides meet in the Premier League this weekend.
On Sunday the Reds return to the Amex Stadium, where they were convincingly beaten 3-0 last season. Albion beat them again a fortnight later in the third round of the FA Cup, 2-1.
The German tactician has warned his players that they have to raise their levels if they are to void a repeat of their last meeting in the Premier League.
“If we play like last year we will get a massive knock again. We should play better. I think we will and that’s the first step,” Klopp said in his pre-match press conference.
“Brighton have had a few results that didn’t go exactly their way and that’s completely normal in their development. They have had a lot of change, lost top players, one of whom we got [Alexis Mac Allister] but have still played incredible football.
“We expect a really tough game against one of the best sides in the league, one of the best coached teams in the league.
“I’m really looking forward to it and we have to put a few things right. It [defeat] can happen, as they’re really good, but we will try really hard to make it better.”
