Cole Palmer has praised an ‘amazing performance’ from Chelsea teammate Raheem Sterling after the winger starred during the club’s 4-1 win at Burnley.
Sterling sent a statement to Gareth Southgate after being left out of the England squad for October’s internationals with an electric performance as Chelsea came from behind to beat Burnley at the weekend.
Sterling was heavily involved as Chelsea earned back-to-back league wins for the first time this season, with the 28-year-old scoring one, creating another, and winning a penalty which Palmer converted for his first Premier League goal.
Burnley struggled to deal with Sterling’s threat all afternoon as the winger drove at the home side’s defence and Palmer praised his teammate after an explosive display against the Clarets.
“Raz put in an amazing performance but it doesn’t surprise us because we know how talented he is as a player,” Palmer told Chelsea’s official club website.
“We know what he can bring to the team in terms of goals and assists and he’s shown just what he’s capable of.
“We’re all delighted for him and hopefully we can build on this performance as a team after the international break.”
