Harry Maguire has said the season ‘starts now’ for Manchester United after the club’s comeback win against Brentford.
United secured a dramatic late win against Brentford after scoring twice in stoppage time to earn a 2-1 win at Old Trafford, with Scott McTominay coming off the bench to score both goals in a thrilling conclusion.
Erik ten Hag’s team had struggled to break down Brentford and looked set for fifth defeat in just eight Premier League games this season, before McTominay’s match-winning cameo secured a much needed win.
Maguire – who made his first Premier League start of the season at centre-back and assisted McTominay’s winning goal – insists the win against Brentford must be a platform to improve results and performances.
“That was a really important win,” Maguire said, as per the club’s official website.
“Obviously, it has been a difficult time for us at the start of this season. We’ve not had the results that we, as a club, demand. Like I said, I think the season must start now.
“This must be a turning point for us all, as individuals and as a club. We must kick on from this.”
