Conte in the frame to become next Napoli boss

Antonio Conte is in the frame to become the next Napoli manager as the pressure increases on Rudi Garcia.

Garcia replaced the club’s title-winning coach, Luciano Spalletti, during the summer but has made a disappointing start to his tenure with the Italian champions fifth in the table and seven points behind leaders AC Milan.

Napoli are understood to be considering change in a bid to get their Serie A title defence back on track, having won a first Scudetto in 33 years under Spalletti last season.

Calciomercato are reporting that former Marseille manager Igor Tudor is a potential target for Napoli, though president Aurelio De Laurentiis is keen to bring Conte to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Conte has been without a club since leaving Tottenham by mutual consent in March, following an explosive rant in which he called the club’s squad ‘selfish’ after a draw with Southampton.

The 54-year-old has a proven track-record of success in Serie A having won four league titles during spells at Juventus and Inter Milan. He also won a Premier League title and the FA Cup during a two-season stint in charge of Chelsea.
