Kalvin Phillips ‘increasingly likely’ to leave Man City

Kalvin Phillips is ‘increasingly likely’ to leave Manchester City during the January transfer window after struggling for regular football at the club.

Phillips has failed to make an impact since signing for the Citizens in a £45m deal from Leeds in 2022, with the midfielder having featured for just 361 minutes in the Premier League since the start of last season.

The 27-year-old has been overlooked for recent fixtures despite a suspension for fellow midfielder Rodri, with Pep Guardiola having started summer signings Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes and teenager Rico Lewis ahead of Phillips.

inews are reporting that Phillips is increasingly likely to leave in the January transfer window as the midfielder looks to retain his place in the England squad.

Phillips has again been included by Gareth Southgate for fixtures with Australia and Italy this month, but runs the risk of losing his place in the squad ahead of Euro 2024 if he cannot secure more regular minutes.

Newcastle and Everton are understood to be interested in a potential deal to sign Phillips, who has struggled to convince Guardiola that he can be a part of his plans at the Etihad.
