Roberto De Zerbi said he is ‘frustrated’ by Brighton’s injury situation as the club continue to lose ‘too many players’.
Brighton’s mounting issues continued during the club’s 2-1 defeat at Manchester City, with the Seagulls losing Danny Welbeck and Solly March to injury at the Etihad.
The latter was substituted in stoppage time and left the pitch on a stretcher, with the winger facing an extended period on the sidelines. The duo join Julio Enciso and Pervis Estupinan among the key names currently sidelined in De Zerbi’s squad.
“I’m frustrated because of the injuries to Danny Welbeck and Solly March first of all. We lost two important players. We are losing too many players this season,” De Zerbi said.
“The first half we didn’t play well but we were playing against best team in world. We suffered a lot. In the second half we showed our quality. There was more energy and attitude. We played better and we pressed better.
“We need more players. We are not used to playing in European competition. We have to find a solution to play and compete in every competition.”
