Klopp says Darwin Nunez in ‘good moment’ for Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp has said the in-form Darwin Nunez is in a good moment for Liverpool after impressing during the opening weeks of the campaign.

Nunez endured a challenging first season at Liverpool after signing for the Reds from Benfica in a deal worth an initial £64m, with a healthy return of 15 goals in all competitions balanced alongside some rash moments around goal.

 

The Uruguayan has started the new season in strong form however, and is averaging a goal or assist every 62.5 minutes in all competitions.

No player in the Premier League can better Nunez for goal involvements per 90 minutes this season and Klopp has been delighted with the progress of the 24-year-old, who will hope to command a regular role in his Liverpool side.

“He’s in a really good moment. He’s had time to adapt to the new country and language,” Klopp said at his pre-game press conference ahead of Liverpool’s Europa League fixture with Toulouse.

“He’s in the middle of the team, everyone is happy with him and I’m happy with him. He’s fine for this game, which is good.

“I actually think he’s really happy. That’s what I can see on the pitch and training ground, which is really important.”
