Arsenal are interested in a deal to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko as the Gunners look to add goals to their frontline.
Mikel Arteta is believed to be keen on signing a centre-forward in the January transfer window, to increase his side’s threat in the final third. Gabriel Jesus is currently sidelined with a hamstring issue, while Eddie Nketiah has scored just five goals in 14 appearances this season.
Sesko signed for Leipzig last summer after a promising period at Red Bull Salzburg, with the Slovenia international having rejected a move to Manchester United before moving to Germany.
The 20-year-old has six goals in 13 games during an encouraging first few months at Leipzig, who value Sesko at around £40m. AC Milan are also monitoring the forward ahead of a potential move, but Arsenal are ‘confident’ of winning the race according to the Mirror.
Sesko has scored nine goals in 24 appearances for Slovenia at international level and was named as his nation’s Player of the Year for 2022.
Arsenal have also been linked with Brentford forward Ivan Toney, who is currently serving an eight-month suspension after breaching the FA’s gambling rules.
Toney’s ban will come to an end in January, though the Gunners could face competition from Tottenham and Chelsea for the England international. Toney has scored 32 goals in 66 league appearances since Brentford’s promotion to the Premier League.
