Arsenal injury news ahead of Newcastle trip

Following on from their 3-1 defeat to West Ham in the Carabao Cup, Arsenal now face the tough trip to Tyneside as they face Newcastle United.

Mikel Arteta’s side has faced a few injury problems this term, but the side are still keeping pace at the top of the table.

Arsenal injury news ahead of Newcastle clash:

Emile Smith Rowe

After finally forcing his way back into the Arsenal side, starting in the Gunners 5-0 demolishing of Sheffield United last weekend, Emile Smith Rowe has been struck with an injury once again.

The 23-year-old assisted Eddie Nketiah as the striker recorded his first Premier League hat-trick against The Blades, but was absent from the squad that travelled to the London Stadium on Wednesday.

Speaking before the game, Arteta confirmed the midfielder would be out for a ‘few weeks’ and that ‘nothing has changed’ with the situation.

Gabriel Jesus

Just as the Brazilian was silencing the doubters with a mesmeric display in the Champions League versus Sevilla, injuries are once again Gabriel Jesus’ Achilles heel.

In his pre-match press conference last week, Arteta stated that: “The scans show there’s muscle injury and we might lose him for a few weeks again.”

After missing the trip to West Ham, it is thought Jesus may return closer to the end of the month.

Thomas Partey

Similar to his teammate Jesus, Partey aggravated an issue caused on international duty, prolonging his inconsistent start to the season.

The Ghanaian started out this campaign at right-back, and seemed to be heavily in Mikel Arteta’s plans, but injuries have put a halt to this.

Commenting on the matter, Arteta said: “He’s got a muscle injury and we expect him to be out for a few weeks.”

Jurrien Timber

Another player who was in Arteta’s plans at the start of the season, Jurrien Timber suffered an ACL injury during the Gunners opening day victory over Nottingham Forest.

The Dutchman is continuing his recovery well, and will look to return in 2024.
