Chelsea injury news ahead of Tottenham test

Injuries have plagued the early part of Chelsea’s campaign, but recent news surrounding summer signing Christopher Nkunku seems positive.

League form has been inconsistent at best for the Blues so far this season, but after progressing to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals this Wednesday, spirits will be high ahead of their trip to Tottenham on Monday.

Chelsea injury news ahead of facing Tottenham:

Mykhailo Mudryk

The Ukrainian winger seems to have finally found his feet in west London, after scoring important goals against both Fulham and Arsenal, the club he was heavily linked to this time last year.

However, Mudryk has missed the last two games for the Blues, nursing a minor knock, but the injury is not thought to be serious.

It has been announced today on the club website, that Mudryk has returned to full training.

Christopher Nkunku

Much was expected of Nkunku when he arrived at Stamford Bridge, but an injury suffered in pre-season has halted his progress, coming against German side Borussia Dortmund.

The Frenchman has applied himself to a rehabilitation programme and for the first time since the summer was spotted on the training pitches at Cobham.

Not expected to return for the London derby, the £52 million man is targeting the November international break to achieve full fitness.

Armando Broja

After scoring on his return to first-team football, Armando Broja looked to finally provide Chelsea the striker they so desperately needed.

But further setbacks have halted the Albanian’s progress, with a knee injury keeping the forward on the sidelines.

Speaking on the matter in his pre-match press conference, Pochettino said: “We were talking. He maybe available to be on the bench. He’s training today and in the last few days doing well. Still not confirmed [his involvement].”

Romeo Lavia

The Chelsea faithful are still yet to see their new Belgian midfielder in action, after the club battled so hard with Liverpool to sign both Lavia and Moises Caicedo this summer.

A return is not expected until late November/early December, as the club are cautious not to rush the 19-year-old back to action.

Trevor Chalobah and Carney Chukwuemeka

A statement was released a few weeks ago by the club, proceeding their 2-2 draw with London rivals Arsenal.

The statement revealed that both players would be absent with individual injuries keeping them out.

The former has been suffering with thigh issues, with the latter nursing a knee problem.

Rehabilitation will continue for the pair at Cobham, with a return unclear.

Ben Chilwell

Although the Blues are progressing well in the Carabao Cup, the left-back has been a fatality of the cause.

The injury was much worse than originally thought, with Chilwell experiencing another stint on the sidelines, something concurrent with his time at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking on the matter in his pre-match press conference, Pochettino said: “I can not tell you [when he will be back]. It is difficult to know. He is away from the training ground now and we will wait for him to come back to see the situation. Hopefully, he can recover as soon as possible.”

Wesley Fofana

Fofana continues to recover to full fitness, following the ACL injury he suffered while touring America this summer.
