Nicolas Jackson said Chelsea are increasing in confidence after beating nine-man Tottenham 4-1 in an epic London Derby on Monday night.
Jackson scored a second-half hat-trick as Chelsea came from behind to beat their capital rivals, in a clash that saw Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie sent off for Spurs.
Dejan Kulusevski had put Spurs into the lead after five minutes, but Romero’s rash challenge on Enzo Fernandez allowed Cole Palmer to equalise for Chelsea from the spot.
The contest was packed full incident with VAR intervening to disallow five goals during the clash, while Spurs suffered cruel luck as James Maddison and Micky van de Ven were substituted in the first half with injuries.
Udogie was then sent off 10 minutes into the second half to leave Spurs with nine men and Chelsea punished the home side to end the host’s unbeaten start to the Premier League season.
Jackson scored three times inside the final 15 minutes, with the 22-year-old delighted to claim the match ball after a challenging start to his Premier League career.
“I am very happy and it has been a difficult time for everybody in the team,” the hat-trick scorer told Sky Sports.
“We are coming back really slowly and happy to have scored three goals. It’s my first hat-trick, so I am happy to have done it with the biggest club in England and everywhere.
“I need to always improve and work harder. We continue working. Tottenham have an amazing stadium and amazing fans, so we needed to fight and win the game.”
On Spurs being reduced to nine men, he added: “It was really difficult as they continued to maintain their line. We have quality players to give us the ball and we won. We were dreaming about winning the big games and the confidence within the team is coming really slowly.”
