With yellow cards being dished out more frequently than ever in the Premier League, there’s a whole host of players walking the tightrope of a potential suspension.
Five yellow cards leads to an automatic one-game ban in the Premier League, with Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister among those who will sit out this weekend’s schedule after picking up a fifth caution of the campaign last time out.
There’s some big names who are nearing a suspension, a potential headache for Premier League managers – and those of us firmly involved in Fantasy Premier League.
While most of the names listed are low-scoring assets, there’s certainly some big hitters. Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz (11.7% ownership) is the highest scoring midfielder under £6m and ranks eighth overall, having scored five goals in 11 league games for Unai Emery’s side.
Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes (13.7% ownership) is not quite as popular as past seasons, but could be a highly transferred in option ahead of games with Luton and Everton. Meanwhile, Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton is increasing in popularity as an enabler at his £4m price point.
