Juventus enquire about signing Sancho on loan in January

Juventus have asked Manchester United for information on Jadon Sancho as they eye up a January loan move.

The 23-year-old has trained away from the Manchester United first-team squad since September with Italian giants Juventus interested in a potential loan move, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Old Lady are reportedly only interested in taking the ex-Dortmund star on loan with part of the winger’s salary covered by his parent club.

Negotiations are not yet ongoing as the Red Devils would prefer a permanent exit, but initial contact between the clubs was made in recent days.

The England international had a public fallout with manager Erik ten Hag, who believed the winger was not performing to the required standard in training. Sancho responded publicly, calling himself a ‘scapegoat’ on social media.

Sancho has enjoyed his best football outside of England as he picked up a league-high 14 assists in the Bundesliga in his breakout season in 2018/19.

Sancho scored an impressive 50 goals and provided 64 assists in just 137 matches in Germany at a rate of 0.83 goal involvements per game, compared to just 0.2 per game in Manchester.

Juventus currently sit second in Serie A, two points behind Inter Milan, and are looking for a first Scudetto since Cristiano Ronaldo’s first season at the club in 2019.

Massimiliano Allegri’s current 3-5-2 formation could see Sancho take up an unfamiliar wing-back role or act as a second striker, roles the winger has limited experience in at senior level.

The former Manchester City youngster could take the place of the injured Timothy Weah, but may have to battle for minutes with Filip Kostic, Federico Chiesa and Samuel Iling-Junior.

Sancho has not featured in the Premier League since August and is reportedly training by himself at Old Trafford, so would take time to regain match sharpness and re-find his Dortmund form.
