Leroy Sane is currently not interested in discussing a contract extension with Bayern Munich amid reports linking him with a return to the Premier League.
Former club Manchester City are ‘open’ to re-signing the German winger next summer, according to BILD, while Liverpool were linked with the 27-year-old this past summer.
Sane has been in exceptional form for Bayern this season, scoring eight goals and providing six assists in 11 Bundesliga appearances, but he is entering the final 18 months of his deal with the Bavarian outfit.
The former Schalke star revealed that Bayern are keen to discuss a new deal with him, but he has put contract negotiations on the back burner while the season in ongoing.
“I haven’t given it [my future] any thought yet,” Sane told the media while on international duty with Germany this week.
“The club wants to have talks, but at the moment I want to focus on this season. FC Bayern remains my first point of contact, there’s no doubt about that.”
Sane won two Premier League titles and four domestic cups while at Man City between 2016 and 2020. He was named the PFA Young Player of the Year as City won the title with a record-breaking 100 points in 2017/18, and scored 39 goals in 135 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Man City saw Riyad Mahrez and Cole Palmer depart last summer, leaving the Premier League champions short of natural right-sided forwards.
As for Liverpool, the possibility of Mo Salah moving to Saudi Arabia in the future lingers, leaving the Reds potentially needing a talented wide forward to fill the void.
