Darwin Nunez clash shrugged off by Guardiola as Klopp plays peacemaker

Darwin Nunez and Pep Guardiola engaged in a heated row at full time of Saturday’s 1-1 draw between Manchester City and Liverpool.

The pair could be seen exchanging words on the touchline almost immediately after the final whistle of a game in which tensions never threatened to boil over.

Regardless, Jurgen Klopp was forced to pull the Uruguayan hothead away from the scene as the two men continued to argue in Spanish.

It’s not clear why Nunez started the argument with the Man City manager, who refused to be drawn on the incident.

“Nothing happened,” the Catalan said (via Anfield Watch). “He’s just stronger than me! It’s not frustration, I’m really pleased.

“The second question, you ask that? Maybe the last question. I am incredibly pleased. We know how tough they are.”

Klopp, who was unable to shed any light on the row, played down the altercation after the game.

“It has nothing to do with the fierce rivalry,” the Liverpool boss said. “I don’t think Darwin Nunez knows anything about it.

“I don’t think I’m the one to explain it because I’m not involved, surprisingly. I love them both. I tried to calm it down without understanding a word.”
