Alexander-Arnold ‘ecstatic’ after late winner against Fulham

Trent Alexander-Arnold said he was ‘ecstatic’ after scoring an 88th minute winner for Liverpool against Fulham.

Alexander-Arnold’s fine effort sealed three points for Liverpool in a captivating clash at Anfield, as the Reds scored twice late on to come from behind and claim a 4-3 win.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were given a fright by Fulham throughout, and the Cottagers twice equalised in the first half, before Bobby Decordova-Reid headed the visitors ahead for the first time with 10 minutes to play.

Wataru Endo levelled for Liverpool, before Alexander-Arnold scored seconds later to keep the Reds within two points of leaders Arsenal.

“Ecstatic. Important game and important goal for the team. We needed to win. At 87 minutes it didn’t look likely at all but we dug deep and found a way. We did that last week and we’ve done it again today,” Alexander-Arnold said to BBC Sport.

“We knew there would be a lot of time added on and we knew there would be chances for us in the game.

“The momentum from the crowd and the players was to push forward and get that winner.

“Technically I’ve not scored two, but I’ll claim it. It is nice when a free kick comes off the woodwork and finds a way in. A lovely strike if I say so myself.

“When I scored the free kick I thought that was the goal of the game but then 20 minutes later Mac Allister goes and scores that outstanding strike.

“We earned it, we dug deep and we found a way. Although there is a bit of relief we earned it with the chances we created.”
