Jurgen Klopp has insisted it will be one game at a time for Liverpool this season as the Reds look to mount a challenge for the title.
Liverpool’s late winner against Fulham saw Klopp’s side move up to second in the table on Sunday, two points behind leaders Arsenal.
Just four points separate the top four sides in the Premier League ahead of this week’s fixtures, but Klopp has said he is not looking too far ahead in terms of the title race.
Liverpool take on struggling Sheffield United on Wednesday evening and the German said the club’s next game is always the most important.
“Our late winner is very important. We can take a lot of things from the game, but we could have done better,” Klopp said at his pre-match press conference.
“I don’t think for a second about where we could end up. We must be [where we are] in April. I have no clue where we will be in April. We can’t think ahead of the next game.”
Trent Alexander-Arnold scored the winner against Fulham, which followed a crucial equaliser from the 25-year-old at Manchester City. The England international has spent large periods in midfield of late and Klopp discussed a more permanent position in the centre for Alexander-Arnold.
“It’s just about what we have available. Trent can play midfield, we always knew that. We will see. We play him where we think it’s best for him and us. I’m not stubborn but I don’t want [to be part of the discussion].”
