Son Heung-min praised a ‘ruthless’ performance from Tottenham after his side thrashed Newcastle 4-1 in North London.
Spurs bounced back from a five-game winless run with an impressive performance on Sunday, as Ange Postecoglou’s side swept aside Newcastle. Son was the architect of the win, as the South Korean set up Destiny Udogie and Richarlison for the opening two goals at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Richarlison scored his second to make it 3-0 to Spurs in the second half, before Son sealed the win from the penalty spot after being brought down by Martin Dubravka. Joelinton’s late goal pulled one back for Newcastle, but it was little consolation for the Magpies who were well beaten in the capital.
Spurs looked back to their best and produced some scintillating attacking football, with Son delighted at his side’s response to recent results.
“When you’re winning you enjoy it more. To bounce back like that is very important,” The Spurs captain told Sky Sports.
“We don’t want to make any more mistakes like we have done. I thought today was fantastic. I hope we can continue to perform like this and stay humble.
“We said we had to be more ruthless. We were ruthless today and were creating chances. We did that fantastic job. To beat Newcastle 4-1 is not easy. They are a very strong side, so credit all the players and fans.
“We are playing in the Premier League, we have to demand each other more and more. It’s never enough. Those amazing teams always keep going. It should be a habit for us.
“If we continue to be strong like this, we will be a very good side.”
