Liverpool are set to hold talks with RB Leipzig over recalling midfielder Fabio Carvalho from his loan spell with the German side.
Carvalho joined Leipzig on loan last summer in search of regular first-team football, but has struggled for minutes in the Bundesliga. The 21-year-old has started just two games in all competitions and has totalled just 258 minutes of action for Leipzig.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Liverpool could look to bring the creative midfielder back to the club when the transfer window opens in the new year, with the Reds unhappy with his lack of game-time in Germany.
Liverpool signed Carvalho from Fulham in a deal worth an initial £5m in 2022, but the midfielder failed to earn a regular role in Jurgen Klopp’s side. He scored three goals in 21 appearances in all competitions last season, though struggled for minutes during the second half of the campaign.
Liverpool could look to secure a more suitable loan move for Carvalho, who has represented both England and Portugal internationally at youth level, in January.
A host of English clubs were credited with interest in taking the youngster on loan last summer, including former club Fulham, Bournemouth and Brighton.
