Son backs Richarlison to become one of the league’s best

Son Heung-min has backed Tottenham teammate Richarlison to become ‘one of the greatest strikers in the Premier League’.

Richarlison endured a difficult debut season at Spurs last term, scoring just once in 27 Premier League appearances, but has bounced back during the current campaign and scored his fifth league goal of the campaign against Everton at the weekend.

Son, who also scored the winner in the 2-1 win over in-form Everton, has backed the Brazilian to continue that momentum and become one of the best centre-forwards in the division.

“The second half you can see that 2-0 is never enough in the Premier League. Everton was pushing and we did well. The lads did a fantastic job and I’m happy to get three points. I think we deserved three points,” Son said on the win to Premier League Productions.

“Football is sometimes going up but sometimes going down. You have to stick together. The previous week we learned a lot from our mistakes. This time we learned and showed good experience. I’m very pleased with every single player because they worked hard and deserved their spot.

“I always work for [goals] in my career. It doesn’t matter where the gaffer puts me I’m ready for it. I know what I have to do. I try to help the team as possible even when I play on the left. I love to work for the team.

“Richarlison went through similar to what I had last season. He is always hungry for goals and for work. He is playing pain-free and looks totally different as a player so I’m very happy for him. If he carries on like this he can be one of the greatest strikers in the Premier League.

“Being in the top four is good but this is not our aim so we want to keep improving.”
