Manchester United are interested in a deal to sign Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee in the January transfer window.
Erik ten Hag’s side have struggled for goals in the Premier League this season and are keen to add another centre-forward in the winter, with links to several strikers in recent weeks. The latest name to be rumoured with a move to the Red Devils is Zirkzee, who has impressed in Serie A this season.
The 22-year-old has scored seven league goals in 15 appearances for Bologna, with the 22-year-old beginning to fulfil the potential first shown at Bayern Munich. Reports from Sport1 in Germany claim that Manchester United are weighing up a move for Zirkzee, who is valued at around €30m (£26m).
However, United could face complications from Bayern Munich, who have a a buy-back option worth €22m (£19m) and hold the right to match any offer the Serie A club receives for Zirkzee.
Zirkzee came through the academy system at Bayern and scored four times in 17 senior appearances for the German champions.
He joined Bologna on a permanent deal in 2022, having scored 16 league goals during a loan spell at Anderlecht in the Belgian Pro League in 2021/22. Newcastle have also been linked with signing the Dutch forward in the new year.
United’s interest comes amid a lack of goals from Ten Hag’s forward options this season. Just three teams in the Premier League have scored less goals than the Red Devils.
