Tottenham’s move to sign Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice is close to collapsing after negotiations with the French side failed to progress quickly.
Spurs are without first-choice centre-backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven at present and are keen to bring in reinforcements early in the January transfer window, but a failure to make progress in talks with Nice has led the North Londoners to look at alternatives.
Todibo, who has also reportedly been tracked by Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle, was viewed as the club’s top target heading into January, having emerged as one of the most progressive central defenders in Ligue 1.
