Ten Hag eyes another raid on former side Ajax

Erik ten Hag is eyeing another raid on former side Ajax with Manchester United monitoring forward Brian Brobbey.

Ten Hag handed Brobbey his debut with the Dutch side and has kept a close eye on the development of the forward at Ajax, where the 21-year-old has scored 12 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions this season.

Manchester United are keen to add another forward to their options with Rasmus Hojlund having endured a challenging debut campaign in the Premier League, while Anthony Martial’s contract expires at the end of the season and will not be renewed.

The Mirror claim that Arsenal are also tracking the progress of Brobbey, while both clubs have considered Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee.

Ten Hag is keen to work with Brobbey again, though new minority owners INEOS will make the ‘final decisions’ on player recruitment. Ten Hag has returned to Ajax previously to sign Lisandro Martinez and Anthony from his former side, while also signing ex-Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana, with mixed success.

Brobbey is aiming to earn a place in the Netherlands squad for next summer’s European Championship after making his senior debut for the Oranje in 2023.
