Juventus enter race for wantaway Jordan Henderson

Juventus have entered the race to sign Jordan Henderson amid the midfielder’s desire to leave Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq.

Henderson is keen to leave Al-Ettifaq after just six months in Saudi Arabia, with the 33-year-old having failed to settle since his controversial move to the Middle East.

The England international has been heavily criticised for his decision to join Al-Ettifaq from Liverpool in the summer, given his previous vocal support of the LGBTQ+ community. Same-sex relations are illegal in Saudi Arabia.

Henderson’s desire to return to Europe is also due to a determination to make the England squad for this summer’s European Championship. Dutch outfit Ajax have been linked with a loan move to sign Henderson, though Gazzetto dello Sport are reporting that Juventus have now entered the race.

The Italian side are keen to strengthen in midfield this month and were previously linked with England team-mate Kalvin Phillips and Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

However, sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli distanced Juventus from moves for that duo and Henderson appears a more financially viable option in January,

Juventus are currently second in Serie A, five points behind leaders Inter Milan with a game in hand.
