Fulham make approach to loan Chelsea’s Chalobah

Fulham have made an approach to sign Trevoh Chalobah on a six-month loan from West London rivals Chelsea.

Chalobah is free to leave Chelsea this month and was subject of interest from Bayern Munich and Nottingham Forest in the summer.

Bayern have since signed Eric Dier from Tottenham to increase their defensive depth, while Forest are focused on sales following their charges for breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

Chalobah has failed to make an appearance since Mauricio Pochettino’s appointment as manager, after suffering a setback from a hamstring injury he first sustained in August.

The 24-year-old has since returned to first-team training but is expected to depart Chelsea in search of regular game time this month. Sky Germany are reporting that Fulham have made an approach to bring Chalobah across the capital on a six-month loan deal with an option to buy.

Marco Silva’s side are currently without Calvin Bassey, who is competing at the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria, while Tosin Adarabioyo and Kenny Tete have contracts that expire at the end of the season.

Chalobah’s ability to cover at both centre-back and right-back make him an ideal option for the Cottagers.
