Newcastle reject Trippier and Wilson bids

Newcastle have turned down approaches from Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid for Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson.

Trippier is interesting Bayern Munich and the German champions have made an ambitious approach to sign the 33-year-old on loan with an obligation to buy.

The England international has been a central figure in Newcastle’s rise under Eddie Howe and leads the Premier League for crosses this season, while ranking second for key passes and third for assists (7).

Sky Sports are reporting that Bayern want to reunite Trippier with former Tottenham teammates Harry Kane and Eric Dier in Germany, having been frustrated in the club’s pursuit to sign Paris Saint-Germain right-back Nordi Mukiele.

Despite his happiness at Newcastle, Trippier is understood to be open to the move to Bayern and the chance to compete for the Champions League at the Allianz Arena.

Meanwhile, Newcastle have also turned down a bid from Atletico Madrid for Callum Wilson. The 31-year-old has started just seven Premier League games this season and Atletico have enquired over a potential loan deal, according to the Mail.

Newcastle have rejected that bid, though could change their stance if a permanent offer is made. Wilson has averaged a goal every 103 minutes in the Premier League this season, but faces competition from Alexander Isak for a starting role.

The forward, who has 18 months remaining on his contract at St James’ Park, could be open to an exit as he looks to improve his chances of making England’s Euro 2024 squad.

However, Atletico are reported to have turned their attention to signing former Everton forward Moise Kean on loan from Juventus.
