Former Bayern Munich technical director Michael Reschke has confirmed that there is Premier League interest in signing Joshua Kimmich from the German champions.
Reschke, who spent three years as technical director at Bayern before leaving for Stuttgart, has discussed Kimmich’s future in Bavaria amid ongoing speculation surrounding an exit.
The 28-year-old’s contract expires in 2025 and the midfielder is understood to be considering leaving Bayern, after a decorated career that has seen him win eight Bundesliga titles and the Champions League among his honours.
Barcelona have been credited with interest in signing Kimmich, though Reschke has revealed that the Spanish side will face competition from the Premier League’s ‘Big Six’. Discussing a potential move to England, Reschke said there was ‘definitely interest’ in Kimmich from the Premier League’s top clubs.
“There are rumours about Barcelona possibly having interest. And in the Premier League – I can assure you, without revealing too many background details – there is definitely interest in Joshua, not from clubs ranked 6th and below, but in the region upwards,” he told Sky Germany.
“I can imagine that Joshua Kimmich might take on a new challenge at some point. On the other hand, I am quite certain that Paris was not a consideration for him. Paris had interest, yes. It’s not the only top club interested in Joshua.
“Joshua’s connection to Bayern – the emotional bond he has with the club – is very strong. It’s a matter of the heart.”
