Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all eyeing a late move to sign Newcastle forward Callum Wilson in the closing stages of the January transfer window.
Wilson’s potential availability has alerted the trio, each of whom are looking for an experienced striker to compliment their current options.
The 31-year-old could be a casualty of Newcastle’s need to meet the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules, having posted losses of £73m for last season, and is valued at £18m at St James’ Park.
That fee makes the England international an attractive option for Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, given his proven track record in the Premier League with 46 goals in 102 games for Newcastle in all competitions.
Wilson has scored seven times from just seven starts in the Premier League this season, as he has competed for a place with Alexander Isak in Eddie Howe’s side. The forward has averaged a goal every 103 minutes in the Premier League during the current campaign, with only Erling Haaland bettering that ratio among players to have scored 7+ goals.
According to the Evening Standard, Wilson was hesitant to move to Atletico Madrid when the Spanish side approached Newcastle earlier in the window, amid reservations over his role.
He is keen to ensure regular playing time in the lead up to Euro 2024 as he looks to earn a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad.
