Manchester United are ready to raid French football for new signings this summer with the Red Devils interested in Nice midfielder Khéphren Thuram and Lille forward Jonathan David.
Each of the duo are set to enter the final 12 months of their respective deals and ESPN have revealed that United are hopeful of securing their signings for reduced fees.
Thuram has been heavily linked with the Premier League in recent windows and was reportedly on the radar of Liverpool as the Reds rebuilt in midfield last summer.
The 22-year-old, son of France great Lilian and brother of Inter Milan forward Marcus, was named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season in 2022/23. He made his senior debut for France in March 2023 and is reportedly valued at around £34m.
Erik ten Hag is also keen to bring in a centre-forward to compete with Rasmus Hojlund, admitting it was “not a secret” that he wanted to sign a striker in the January transfer window.
Canada international David is understood to be an option, with Anthony Martial set to leave when his contract expires at the end of the season.
David has scored 60 goals in 132 league appearances for Lille and has netted 26 times in 45 caps for Canada at international level. The 23-year-old has previously discussed his admiration for the Premier League and a desire to move to English football.
“I don’t know, I think it’s possible, very possible. I don’t know if I can find myself anywhere other than the Premier League,” David said in an interview with La Voix du Nord in 2022.
“It could well be the Premier League. It’s a very nice atmosphere. In England, when I watch the matches, everything is full each time. As a player, it motivates you even more.”
