Tottenham are confident that Ange Postecoglou will remain at the club despite suggestions he could be a target for Liverpool in the summer.
Liverpool are assessing candidates to become their next manager after Jurgen Klopp’s decision to leave the Reds at the end of the season and Postecoglou has been named as a potential option.
The Australian has been a big hit since swapping Celtic for North London in the summer, impressing with his attractive brand of football and leading Spurs into the Premier League’s top four.
The 58-year-old has been named as a potential option for Liverpool, though the club’s former midfielder, Xabi Alonso, remains the frontrunner for the position after his success at Bayer Leverkusen.
Spurs are confident that Postecoglou would shun interest should it arrive, however, with the Telegraph reporting that the North Londoners expect the head coach to remain in the capital.
Postecoglou is set to be rewarded should Spurs secure Champions League qualification and there is confidence he would choose to continue his progress with the side, even in the event of approaches from rivals.
Manchester City are also admirers of Postecoglou’s work, though there is no indication that Pep Guardiola will leave the Etihad before the expiry of his contract in 2025. The former previously managed Yokohama F. Marinos under the City Football Group umbrella.
