Manchester United are planning a summer clear-out of their squad as the Sir Jim Ratcliffe era begins at Old Trafford.
Ratcliffe’s investment as minority owner is set to lead to a rebuild at the end of the campaign and the Red Devils are preparing to move on a number of senior names.
There will be a focus on selling ageing stars on high wages, with ESPN reporting that Harry Maguire, Casemiro and Raphael Varane could all be sold in the summer.
Christian Eriksen, who turned 32 earlier this month, is also expected to leave the club, while offers will be considered for Scott McTominay, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Victor Lindelof.
Elsewhere, Anthony Martial’s contract will not be renewed ahead of its expiration at the end of the season and permanent exits will also be sought for Jadon Sancho, Donny van de Beek, Facundo Pellestri and Brandon Williams, each of whom are out on loan.
United are hopeful of recouping a considerable amount of funds to reinvest into the squad, with the signing of a central defender and centre-forward high on the club’s agenda.
Current concerns over the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules will hope to be eased by the clear-out, particularly if the Red Devils miss out on a top-four finish and Champions League qualification.
Erik ten Hag’s team are currently sixth in the Premier League table, five points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa, ahead of facing Fulham this weekend.
