Thomas Tuchel is interested in becoming Manchester United manager, should Erik ten Hag be sacked at Old Trafford.
Bayern Munich have confirmed that Tuchel will leave his position at the end of the campaign and the German will prioritise a return to the Premier League.
The 50-year-old won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup during a previous spell at Chelsea and is open to returning to English football.
Sky Germany are reporting that Tuchel is keeping an eye on developments at Manchester United, who are at risk of missing out on Champions League qualification this season.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS group have completed their minority acquisition of the Red Devils and have assumed control of football operations at Old Trafford, which has led to suggestions of managerial change.
Ten Hag’s first season at Manchester United was deemed satisfactory after securing a top-three finish in the Premier League and Carabao Cup success, ending the club’s six-year wait for silverware.
However, the Dutchman has failed to build on that foundation and there has been criticism over a lack of progress, given investment of £410.9 million on new players.
Several of his signings, including Andre Onana, Antony and Mason Mount, have struggled for form or fitness and Tuchel could emerge as an option should change be decided.
Barcelona have also been linked with Tuchel, who has won league titles in France and Germany, with Xavi set to step down at the Camp Nou in the summer.
