Arsenal interested in Ajax goalkeeper as Ramsdale replacement

Arsenal are interested in signing Ajax goalkeeper Diant Ramaj with Aaron Ramsdale expected to leave the club in the summer.

Ramsdale has lost his place as first-choice goalkeeper this season following the arrival of David Raya from Brentford, with the England international having featured just nine times across all competitions.

The 25-year-old is expected to move on to secure a number one role in the summer and Chelsea are among the clubs who have been credited with signing Ramsdale.

Newcastle and Wolves were also linked with Ramsdale in the January transfer window and the goalkeeper will want regular football next season to keep alive his international ambitions.

Football Transfers are reporting that Ajax goalkeeper Ramaj has been identified as a player who could replace Ramsdale, as the Gunners look to secure competition and cover for Raya.

The 22-year-old has broken into the Ajax team this season to feature 21 times in all competitions and is valued in the region of €15m (£12.8m) at the Dutch side.

Ajax have endured a disappointing domestic campaign and face missing out on Champions League qualification this season. John van ‘t Schip’s side are fifth in the table, 11 points behind FC Twente in the final qualification spot.
