Conor Gallagher not interested in Chelsea exit

Conor Gallagher does not want to leave Chelsea despite speculation surrounding his long-term future at Stamford Bridge.

The midfielder will enter the final 12 months of his contract at Chelsea in the summer and has so far failed to agree terms on an extension. Tottenham have been credited with interest in signing the England international and are expected to formalise that interest with a summer bid.

Gallagher has been a central figure in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans this season but continues to be linked with an exit as the Blues look to balance the books. A high-value asset with a contract rapidly running down, his sale would count as complete profit given his status as an academy product.

However, the 24-year-old has told Sky Sports that he has no intention of leaving Chelsea and is keen to recommit his future to the west Londoners.

“Obviously there’s another year and a half of my contract and I’ve absolutely loved playing with the manager, playing almost every game. It’s been incredible and that’s all I’ve ever wanted.

“Last season, I was in and out of the team and it wasn’t as enjoyable for that reason and I wasn’t playing great when I was (playing). I want to just keep playing as much as I can for Chelsea, keep trying to improve the club and be as successful as I can at Chelsea. That’s the plan, for sure.

“I’m optimistic. We’ve got a really young squad, a lot of talent, a great manager, great coaches that just want the best for us. So yeah, I really want to be a part of it and get Chelsea back to where they belong.”
