Thomas Tuchel open to Chelsea return this summer

Thomas Tuchel is open to returning to Chelsea as manager ahead of his exit from Bayern Munich in the summer.

Tuchel will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the current campaign following a disappointing domestic campaign for the Bavarians, who sit 10 points behind Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga title race.

The club are preparing for change as their 11-year grip on the Bundesliga looks likely to end and Tuchel is assessing his options.

Sky Germany are reporting that Tuchel would be open to a return to Chelsea, with Mauricio Pochettino under pressure at Stamford Bridge. Tuchel departed west London soon after the arrival of the current ownership but has not ruled out returning to Chelsea.

A Premier League role is the ‘greatest short-term desire’ for Tuchel who believes he has unfinished business in English football after an unceremonious exit at Chelsea. He led the Blues to Champions League success in 2021, before lifting the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Club.

The 50-year-old is also understood to be monitoring the situation at Manchester United given Erik ten Hag’s uncertain future at Old Trafford, while Barcelona is also a club of interest to the German.

Barcelona are seeking a new head coach for next season after it was confirmed that Xavi will leave the Camp Nou in the summer.
