Manchester United are keeping a close eye on the situation of Joselu at Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain.
The veteran signed on loan for Real Madrid from relegated Espanyol in the summer as the club sought an experienced replacement for Karim Benzema.
He has scored 14 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, though his long-term future is unclear with Kylian Mbappe expected to sign for the Spanish side from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in the summer.
Spanish outlet Revelo are reporting that Manchester United are monitoring developments as the Red Devils look to recruit a forward to aid the development of Rasmus Hojlund.
The 21-year-old signed from Atalanta in a £72m deal last summer and has bounced back from a difficult start to impress at Old Trafford, scoring 13 times in all competitions.
Anthony Martial will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season and the addition of an experienced forward would add depth without hindering Hojlund’s development.
Joselu’s profile appears an ideal fit for a supporting role to the Dane, while his experience of English football – albeit during disappointing spells at Stoke and Newcastle earlier in his career – adds to his appeal.
The 34-year-old has scored 60 goals in 171 league appearances since leaving Newcastle to return to La Liga.
