David Moyes has backed West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen to reach 20 goals in the Premier League this season.
Bowen has been in brilliant form for the Hammers and has scored 19 times in all competitions, with 15 of those goals coming in the Premier League.
The 27-year-old is just three goals behind Erling Haaland in the race for the Premier League’s Golden Boot, as he looks to impress and earn a place in the England squad for Euro 2024.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of this weekend’s clash with Wolves, Moyes has backed Bowen to go on and reach 20 league goals before the end of the campaign.
“If he got 20 that’d be great. In my head, if he got 20 Premier League goals that’d be amazing, especially for a player who doesn’t always play up front. He’s been brilliant, and he’s got lots of assists as well.”
West Ham’s hopes of reaching Europe for a fourth consecutive campaign under Moyes’ management have suffered a setback with a recent four-game winless run, including a 4-3 defeat after leading 3-1 at Newcastle last weekend.
The Irons responded with a spirited draw at Spurs in midweek and Moyes is confident his team can end the season strongly.
“They have to keep focused and try to win every game one at a time,” the Scot said.
“For most of the season we’ve been in the top eight or nine, which is a good achievement. We’ve had a great run in Europe again, so we want to try to keep positive.
“We’re happy. We’d like to be a bit higher up in the table, but things have gone against us in recent weeks and we have to work with that.”
