Arteta praises ‘unbelievable’ Kane ahead of north London return

Mikel Arteta has called Harry Kane an ‘unbelievable’ goalscorer as the Bayern Munich star prepares to face Arsenal in the Champions League this week.

Kane will return to north London for the first time since leaving Tottenham for Germany last summer, as Bayern travel to face Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The England captain has had a stunning season in Munich despite a challenging campaign for Bayern, with the 30-year-old the leading scorer across Europe’s top five leagues.

Kane has become the first player in Europe’s leading leagues to reach 50 goal involvements and has netted 38 times in 37 appearances across all competitions.

He also has a brilliant record against Arsenal from his time at Spurs, having netted 14 times in 17 league games against the Gunners.

Arteta is aware of the threat Kane will pose to his team’s hopes of reaching the Champions League semi-finals but warned Arsenal that Bayern have talent all over the pitch.

“It’s not only him [Kane] but the 10 other individuals that they have. We know the individual qualities of those players, and him in particular. The ability he has. The best thing is to collectively prevent certain things.”

On what makes Kane elite, Arteta added: “His consistency. When you look at this numbers over the past 10 years they are unbelievable. He can score in many different ways. He has got the service and the players around him as well to provide those opportunities as well. Here’s what we have to try to avoid.”
