Dean Henderson said he felt like he was ‘out there for about a year’ as Crystal Palace dug in to earn a 1-0 win at Liverpool.
The Eagles produced a huge upset to dent the title hopes of Liverpool, as Eberechi Eze’s first-half goal earned the visitors a hard-fought win at Anfield.
Palace had not won on the road in the Premier League since beating Burnley in November, but ripped up the form book to become the first away side to win at Liverpool in the league since October 2022.
It was a brilliant defensive performance from Oliver Glasner’s side as Henderson made several saves to frustrate the hosts, while there were last-ditch blocks from several Palace defenders to keep Liverpool out.
Henderson was delighted with a huge win for the South Londoners who moved eight points clear of the drop zone to ease their relegation concerns.
“Coming to places like this, you know you’re going to be busy. I’m delighted to be back this time around, it’s a team effort, I’m delighted,” Henderson said to BBC’s Match of the Day.
“The amount of blocks, passes across, blocks. They made save after save for me, I had to make saves as well.
“I felt like I was out there for about a year, we rode our luck at times but I’m delighted.
“I think the lads believed we could do something today on the coach today, the pressure was on them. If we play our stuff and once bodies come back, with what the manager has got us doing, we will be playing good stuff.
“I feel good this time around, I feel fit and I’ve got a smile on my face.”
